Programme Introduction
The transition to a low-carbon economy is reshaping national energy strategy, investment flows and corporate risk. Leaders across government and business are now expected to understand not just the science and policy of climate change, but the financial architecture that funds the transition, from green bonds and carbon markets to blended finance and multilateral climate funds.
This executive programme is designed for senior leaders who need a practical command of climate finance, energy economics and sustainable development strategy. Delivered through expert-led sessions, an international peer review, a UK study tour and executive networking, the programme equips participants to lead climate and energy strategy with financial and policy fluency.
Programme Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Understand Nigeria and Africa’s energy transition opportunities, trade-offs and strategic options.
- Apply knowledge of climate science, policy and the UNFCCC framework.
- Navigate the climate finance architecture, including the Green Climate Fund, Climate Investment Funds (CIFs), AfDB and bilateral mechanisms.
- Mobilise private capital through green bonds and blended finance.
- Understand carbon credits and Nigeria’s emerging carbon market.
- Apply renewable energy economics across solar, wind, hydro and grid storage.
- Apply ESG reporting and TCFD-aligned sustainable finance frameworks.
- Manage the social dimensions of a just transition, including job losses and community impacts.
- Negotiate access to and deployment of international climate funds.
- Integrate climate considerations into organisational policy and strategy

Day 2 — Climate Finance Architecture, Carbon Markets and Renewable Energy Economics.
Day 3 — Just Transition, ESG Reporting and Sustainable Finance Frameworks.
Day 4 — Negotiating Climate Finance and UK Study Tour.
Day 5 — Action Planning: Leadership for Sustainable Development.
Venue and Learning Locations
The programme will be delivered in London and Oxford, and Istanbul including sessions at:
